Kundalini Yoga

I got my intial taste of Kundalini Yoga on my first day of Reiki Level 1 training. We did a kundalini kriya which involved chanting and I knew I was hooked!

Kundalini Yoga is a little different to other styles that are out there in the Western yoga market. For starters, there’s a lot less downward facing dog…It is the yoga for spiritual enlightenment, it focuses on bringing the (often times dormant) kundalini energy from the base of the spine, to the crown of the head. The kundalini energy is often represented by a coiled snake that sits around your root chakra (the lowest vibrational energy centre of the body, located at the base of your spine).

It involves a series of repetitive movements, chanting, singing, setting intention and breath work. Don’t be fooled though, you’ll still leave the class with a full body workout! You’ll just have the added bonus of shifting the energy in your external life as well as internally!
